Nervous Conditions: Ch. 8

Tambu returns to the homestead, and she helps out with the disarray that had taken place while she was at the mission.  Also, Lucia's baby, Farai, is born.  The problem within this chapter though, is Tambu's feelings about the wedding.  Whenever the wedding of Tambu's parents is discussed, Tambu states that, "Whenever I thought about it... I suffered a horrible crawling over my skin, my chest contracted to a breathless tension and even my bowels threatened to let me know their opinion."

Tambu is embarrassed for her parents to get married, and she almost views it as a joke.  In her culture, it is almost a sin to get married and wear a white dress if you are unclean, and much less if already have multiple children.  If I was Tambu, I would still be embarassed, but I would also try to support my parents as much as possible.
